In so many ways the world is on its knees, and we can either stand by and rail against what is happening, looking for someone else to find the remedy… or we can donate to the cause ourselves.
There are many ways to donate; we can give our time, our energy, we can make financial contributions, we can offer innovation and creativity, and all have value. But the greatest donation we can make is that of our lives.
What this means in practice is giving our minds and hearts to the cause. We must be careful when we are donating, that we are not simply appeasing our consciences, just doing enough to assuage our guilt and any feelings of responsibility we may have. Because although making some contribution is better than none, making our contribution in the right way, with the highest intentions, adds incalculable value.
It is important not to just give to the cause and walk away, feeling your job is done… find ways to keep giving. The beauty of giving from the heart is that everyone benefits, the receiver, the giver, and the cause. And this cause is so central to all our existences that it is time to make our lives a donation, because it’s our very lives that are at stake.
The oceans, seas and rivers are more toxic, the quality of the air is poor and diminishing, the forests are disappearing, the once green and fertile land is poisonous and is also rapidly shrinking. It is becoming more and more difficult for Mother Earth to sustain life and the decisions and choices we continue to make are contributing to our own demise. It is time to respond to the ‘call of time’.
In 2025 make a pledge that you will give from the heart… and without counting what you give. When we give in this way, we set up a virtuous cycle, where we make the things around us better and we are made better too. This year, become creative and find ways to make your life a donation.
By ourselves we are likely to fail in this task… but together we are formidable!
“You are not a drop in the ocean… You are the entire ocean in a drop”.
Rumi (1207 – 1273)
